The rules in short

Ontario's regulated online gambling market opened on April 4, 2022. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages that market. The AGCO regulates it.

A private online casino is legal in Ontario only with two things in place. One is registration with the AGCO. The other is an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. Sites that have both appear in iGaming Ontario's directory of regulated sites at igamingontario.ca.

OLG.ca is not a private site: it is the online casino of OLG, the provincial agency. For any site, the same two limits apply to you. You must be 19 or older, and you can play only while you are physically in Ontario. A player from Owen Sound on a trip outside the province cannot play on an Ontario site from there.

Opting out: BetGuard and My PlayBreak

BetGuard, at betguard.ca, is a self-exclusion tool: you ask to be kept off gambling sites for a set time. iGaming Ontario has run it since May 14, 2026. One request covers every regulated Ontario online gambling site, OLG.ca included. Terms run 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or a custom length.

Land-based casinos, such as the one in Hanover, are not covered by BetGuard. For them, OLG's My PlayBreak applies, with breaks of 3 or 6 months or 1 to 5 years. A casino break covers any Ontario casino and cannot end early. Enrol through the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, staff on site, or a PlaySmart Centre.

How this guide is paid

Hanover Casino Tally takes no bets and has no accounts. Paid links appear on the home page only, each marked Ad. There are three: a button in the menu, a block below the first screen and one near the end of the page. All three go to one private online casino partner, which pays the guide a commission.

Those links are for adults physically located in Ontario only. The partner is not OLG.ca, is not named on any page and can change. It has no connection with Playtime Casino Hanover, Gateway Casinos, Hanover Raceway, OLG, iGaming Ontario or the AGCO. Anyone can check an online operator in iGaming Ontario's directory at igamingontario.ca.
